RID11343 zipper in phase encoding direction at zero frequency

synonym

RF feedthrough artifact
central line artifact
zero frequency artifact

definition

Caused by RF feedthrough. RF feedthrough refers to detection of the RF excitation pulse by the receive coil. Detection of the RF excitation pulse causes spurious signal at the central frequency of the sampled bandwidth (ie, zero frequency) and results in a streak in the phase encoding direction through the geometric center of the image.
