RID11369 static magnetic field inhomogeneity

definition

Inhomogeneity of the main (static) magnetic field. The inhomegenity typically is on the order of 1 ppm over a small volume (15 cm diameter) and 15 ppm over a large volume (50 cm diameter). It is most pronounced at the geometric extremes of short bore magnets. It produces spatial distortion in readout direction.
