[BI-RADS] Mammo: associated with ductal ectasia, may form solid or discontinuous smooth linear rods, usually >= 0.5mm in diameter.

comment

They can have lucent centers if the calcium is in the wall of the duct and will generally be solid when secretions calcify in the lumen of ectatic ducts. these follow a ductal distribution, radiating toward the nipple, and occasionally branching, and they are usually bilateral. secretory calcificaitons are usually seen in women older than 60 years.
