0031387 Increased multinucleated megakaryocyte count

comment

A multinucleated megakaryocyte is a cell of normal size with two or more nuclei. Binucleated micromegakaryocytes should be categorized as such rather than as multinucleated megakaryocytes since the restricted size is of more diagnostic significance than the presence of two nuclei. Multinucleated megakaryocytes are seen in small numbers in normal bone marrow aspirates but in larger numbers in some patients with MDS.
